NFL fans reacted to former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick’s recent statements about the NFL. Kaepernick recently slammed NFL commissioner Rodger Goodell for backing up Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker’s right to give a controversial commencement speech.

As previously discussed on GH, Goodell said he appreciates the diversity of thought in the league:

“We have over 3,000 players. … They have a diversity of opinions & thoughts just like America does. I think that’s something that we treasure & that’s part of ultimately what makes us as a society better.”

However, Kaepernick hasn’t been in the league since 2016, when he started taking a knee to protest police brutality. Kaepernick posted on his Instagram story that he doesn’t watch the NFL:

Kaepernick posted a screenshot of Diab’s story with the text, “That’s why I don’t watch that organization-and I still don’t care who performs at their halftime show.”

Here is a sample of fan reactions to Kaepernick’s boycott of the league. Most fans think Kaepernick is being hypocritical himself because he asked to rejoin the league last season.

Imma be honest I used to support Kaep but this is wild coming from a guy who bashed the league then tried to come back multiple times. Lowkey glad he never came back

    — Gmanski (@gmanski3) May 24, 2024

Yet, the fraud tried to beg to come back into the league last year🤡🤣

    — SalamiTommi.eth (@mmascara15) May 24, 2024

Huh. Poor kid can’t tell the difference between being benched for Blaine Gabbert before he began his protest and being one of the best players in the league at his position.

Or between making a speech off the NFL’s time and protesting in uniform on NFL broadcasts?

    — Chad Thomas (@TheCAThomas) May 25, 2024

The same league you claim to hate but time n time again practically beg to get back into? Gotcha

    — SniperJones🏴‍☠️🎙🇨🇴 (@RaiderSniper) May 25, 2024

He’s right as far as the issues regarding how he was treated for his personal views however he has tried to come back multiple times so quit with the lies about not watching or caring.

Who cares about Colin K. He is a no entity with no say.

What he chose to do and protest is not a comparable to speech that only advocated the importance or women who choose to be housewives.

The media blowing up this story only confirms what he said.

There was no degregation or racism or disrespect, unlike CK kneeling.

He had a right to kneel, he had a right to speak out and has a right not to watch NFL football. What he shouldn’t do is make public remarks like this because it makes him look like a hypocrite when he tried to get back into the league last year.

How is this a double standard ? 1 is on COMPANY time, the other 1 is on personal time. You can’t drink vodka at work but when you clock out you can swill down a pint. I guess that’s a double standard too. 🤡

You are completely missing the point!! Kaepernick!!! First, kaepernick was an average QB at best because the 49er’s head coach was a genius by designing & building a team around Kaepernick’s weaknesses & utilized the few good attributes he had. He couldn’t read the simplest defenses to save his life which is why he always took off running. Kaepernick is only trying to stay relevant because he’s been out of the limelight for years & it’s eating him up. As much as I dislike Goodell what he said about the NFL is absolutely spot on. Again, Kaepernick was at best an average QB who decided he wanted to play in the BLM arena with his disrespectful actions on the field instead of trying to become a better football which in the end cost him the opportunity to continue in the NFL. Kaepernick is old news & Kaepernick no longer has a platform to spread his falsehoods & opinions. He isn’t even a has been, he’s a never was!! Every single time he feels like his name is fading away into obscurity he jumps on the next bandwagon or tries to discredit another sports figure so he gets his name back out there. His relevance has long passed & no one cares about what his opinions are. Mr Kaepernick please just fade away back into obscurity & avoid these embarrassing news blurbs that only make you look more pathetic.

You got a point. I looked at some of these comments, and your people don’t get it or choose not too. Think about him kneeling. When did that ever become a sign of disrespect? He started kneeling after he spoke with at least 1 Veteran if not more and asked the best way to protest without being disrespectful. What I’m seeing in these comments are sad opinions which just underscores that we still have a long way to go let me guess the VETERAN that told him that it wasn’t disrespectful got it wrong? I don’t believe he did. Just think about what you’re saying before you say it. Think if someone kneels before you or bows not that he was bowing, but again how is it disrespectful. You just didn’t agree what the protest was about and again it’s sad. I don’t agree with somethings that this guy does, but him kneeling isn’t one, and if it is to you. Why? Yah(God) bless all and again think about it.

Don’t know who you are what race, religion, or even sex you identify as but this comment is spot on. Kaepernick was never great hell he wasn’t even average as a passer. He does anything to get some attention and that’s ultimately like you said the reason for his downfall from football. His beliefs about the mistreatment of people by police is not an issue it’s his belief that he can half ass his job and still get a shot when there’s 90+ quarterbacks in the league that’s better.

Ironic how he wants his beliefs and opinions heard, but nobody else should have a differing one. I love America because we can speak our piece. And as far as his complaint that he was blacklisted, 1, if you were good enough, a team would put you on the field. And 2, private businesses in our society have the right to chose those that represent their brand. Your opinion is important, because it’s your opinion. That doesn’t mean someone else’s isn’t.

Let’s get this straight. Women have the right to educate themselves and make choices on what they need want to accomplish in their personal lives. This is America, the land of the free. I don’t particularly like Butker’s stance on women. But it is what he believes. As an African American who has been discriminated by people of the opposite color, I still support Freedom of Speech. Being in a leadership position Rodger Goodell had no choice but to say what he said. One thing I can tell.you that once you discriminate against me; there would be no way I would want to come back into your organization.

Kaepernick and all these crybabies crying about Butker’s speech at a college graduation and wondering why he isn’t facing consequences like Kap did. How hard is it to figure out that Butker didn’t do what he did on game day? He didn’t separate himself and make it all about himself instead of the team. No Kappy that was you. You decided to kneel and got the exact attention you were looking for. Right before kickoff. Not what people that work all week looking forward to Sunday want to deal with. So keep on talking ish about the league one week and then beg to come back the next, hypocrite.

The NFL has the right to hire/fire anyone it wants. It is a PRIVATE COMPANY….like Walmart and Merril Lynch. The NFL is an entertainment product. He damaged their image and as a result lessened the value of that product. Anyone who does not represent their values while on the clock/payroll is subject to disciplinary action. He signed a contract and forgot to read the fine print. The division that he helped reignite in this country is the cancer that is destroying it. Scoreboard? Wannabe folk hero to sad zero. RIP Woke.

He had a right to kneel just like the other guy had the right to say what he wanted. He didn’t reignite anything it never went away, that’s why he was kneeling to bring attention to what was going on.

      Hey Colin,
At least Harrison was invited to share his remarks at a venue that is in alignment with his Catholic views.
Unlike you who chose to exercise your right to free speech uninvited at a time and place where you could shove it down our throats.
We didn’t have to listen to Harrison’s speech, we don’t have to judge or comment about it, and certainly if you don’t want to watch the NFL more power to you.
Just a question , does this mean we can stop dealing with your whining about teams feeling you are not a good fit for their team, as opposed to realizing that you are one passe?

On the one hand, I can see he would feel some kind of way about what happened to him. On the other hand, if you felt like you got dealt a band hand you should feel like they learned something from your situation instead of wanting someone else to suffer also

I find it interesting how much anger there is for Colin kneeling before the flag in peaceful protest of police violence against black people as opposed to the silence and acceptance of a Supreme Court Justice flying the same flag upside down in support of a violent insurrection.

Kaepernick, just go away. You couldn’t hang in the NFL and found another way to get your millions. Nike and the woke were foolish enough to support you. You could have genuinely done something to help the cause as many other NFL players have done. You chose the easy way that made you millions with no real effort on your part and no cost to you.

CK isn’t watching NFL because NFL doesn’t want him. He’s a racist and speaks with forked tongue & he’s just beyond his time & his opinion has no value whatsoever, he’s just a crazy looser that’s not all there.

This is the same man who tried many times to get back into the NFL and failed. But yet he says he’s not watching any games. What a joke. GTFOH.

Please quit giving this guy any acknowledgement in your sport columns. He has nothing to offer any team in the NFL other than controversy. However many years it’s been and sports writers continue to keep him in conversations. He is no longer relevant to sports fans. Pleeeease just stop.

Original got benched because of his poor performance and overall loosing record of 28 – 30 as a starting qb for the 49ers in the NFL.

Who cares what a washed up QB has to say, he’s been a stain on the game long enough, time for him to go take a knee at his family reunion, hopefully there they will listen. #fedup
