With the 2025 NFL Draft looming, Coach Prime and the Colorado Buffaloes have been searching for Sheduer Sander’s replacement. After months of rumors, Colorado finally learned that long-time USC commit Julian Lewis had de-committed from the Trojans. On Thursday morning, Lewis announced on the Pat McAfee Show that he was headed to Boulder to play under Coach Prime.

Coach Prime’s Recruitment
Ever since Deion Sanders set foot in the college football world, he has been one of the best recruiters in the nation. At Jackson State, Coach Prime was able to flip the number one recruit in the nation, Travis Hunter. At Colorado, he landed two 5-star prospects in two years with Cormani McClain and Jordan Seaton. Coach Prime’s next decision was who would replace his son, Sheduer Sanders, as the Buffalo’s quarterback. Once Julian Lewis reclassified to the 2025 recruiting class, Coach Prime was all in on landing the Georgia native.
What “Ju Ju” Lewis Brings to Boulder
Lewis is the 39th-ranked player and sixth-best quarterback in the 2025 class. At just 17 years old, he already has a decorated career. In 2022, he won the MaxPreps National Freshman of the Year award and led his school to a 7A Georgia state title while passing for a record 531 passing yards in that game. He followed that up in 2023, winning the MaxPreps National Sophmore of the Year award and was a Gatorade National Player of the Year finalist. He has also collected back-to-back Earned Region Offensive Player of the Year honors. This season he has posted 2,842 passing yards and 40 touchdowns while completing 77.8% of his passes, and is competing for another 7A Gerogia State title
Lewis brings the same gun-slinging mentality to Boulder as Sheduer Sanders. In his three high school seasons, Lewis posted a combined 10,054 passing yards, 136 touchdowns, and just 18 interceptions while completing 69% of his passes.
When asked why he chose the Colorado Buffaloes Lewis said,
” I’m excited to learn under Coach Shurmur and Coach Prime. I don’t think there is a better person to learn how to read defenses and coverages than Coach Prime, Deion Sanders.”
Colorado fans have long clamored for Lewis to commit to the Buffs. One of Boulder’s most popular restaurants, The Sink, even named a burger after Lewis: “The Ju Ju Burger.”
With Sheduer Sanders unofficially announcing he will be entering the 2025 NFL Draft, Coach Prime and the Colorado Buffaloes can rest easy knowing they have an heir apparent for their superstar quarterback.
