The Cleveland Browns sign a tight end

The Cleveland Browns are looking to make a jump in the AFC North next season. The team will have quarterback Deshaun Watson back for an entire season in 2023. The Browns should be a playoff contender next season, and they’re adding an offensive weapon Watson is familiar with.

According to David Canter with GSE Worldwide, a sports marketing agency, the Browns are signing tight end Jordan Akins.

Akins has prior experience catching passes from Watson with the Houston Texans. Akins was a third-round selection by the Texans in 2018. He was with the Texans from 2018-21 and signed with the New York Giants for a brief period during the 2022 offseason. Akins returned to the Texans for the 2022 regular season and was promoted to the active roster midseason.

In his NFL career, Akins has 151 receptions for 1,755 yards and eight touchdown receptions. He had a career season in 2022 with 495 yards receiving and five touchdown receptions.
