After the Cleveland Browns finished their 3-14 season, they quickly fired two men who didn’t take the offense to the next level.
Cleveland parted ways with their first-year offensive coordinator, Ken Dorsey, and first-year offensive line coach, Andy Dickerson, on Sunday morning, and it didn’t take long for Cleveland to fill the shoes of their next offensive line coach.
Cleveland Browns Hire A New Coach
The Cleveland Browns announced on Wednesday that they had hired Rice head coach Mike Bloomgren as their next offensive line coach.
We’ve named Mike Bloomgren as our new offensive line coach.

The 47-year-old head coach has been coaching Rice for the last seven years and was relieved of his duties this past October after a record of 24-52 dating back to 2018.
“Mike has a wealth of knowledge and is extremely bright,” head coach Kevin Stefanski said via Cleveland Browns.com “In addition to his NFL experience, he has worked in a number of pro-style offenses on the college level. He has proven to be successful as a teacher and motivator, which will be vital for our offensive line room. We are excited to add Mike to our coaching staff.”
While Bloomgren has coached more at the college level than the NFL, he has spent a few seasons in the pros going back to 2007-2010.
Bloomgren Is Familiar With A Former Browns Coach
Many Cleveland Browns fans should be familiar with Bill Callahan. He served as the Browns’ offensive line coach for four seasons before leaving to coach with his son Brian Callahan with the Tennessee Titans this past offseason.
Brown’s offensive line dropped off in this last season with Callahan gone, and now, getting an offensive line coach who once worked under him should make Browns fans feel like they are heading in the right direction.
Cleveland still needs to hire an offensive coordinator to complete its coaching hiring process. Hopefully, the Browns will improve their offensive game in 2025.
