Winning the Super Bowl is the goal for all 32 teams in the NFL. Achieving the goal is hard and teams are disappointed at the end of each season. The Cleveland Browns understand how hard it is to win the Lombardi Trophy. Cleveland has never won a Superbowl in 70 years.
Former Chiefs Safety Juan Thornhill didn’t hold back about the Brown’s Super Bowl chances. During a media conference, Thornhill said, ” I feel like all the pieces are here and we have that capability of getting there and making a splash in the playoffs and making it to the Super Bowl.”
The Browns finished 7-10 in 2022. Cleveland missed the playoffs for the second straight season.
Thornhill signed a three-year $21 million contract. Thornhill received $14 million guaranteed.
Thornhill helped the Chiefs beat the Eagles 38-35 in February. Thornhill also lost Super Bowl 55 against the Buccaneers. Thornhill didn’t play in Super Bowl 54 because he tore his ACL. The Chiefs beat the 49ers 31-20.
Thornhill was drafted in 2019 and has been in the playoffs each season. Thornhill has played in four AFC Championship games, only losing one to the Cincinnati Bengals.
Thornhill can use his experience to help the Browns reach their goals. Thornhill knows what it takes to be successful and hoist a Lombardi Trophy.
Thornhill’s playmaking ability will help a talented Brown’s defense. Cleveland’s defense ranked 14th in the NFL. Cleveland’s defense allowed 331 yards per game and 22.1 points per game.
Kansas City’s defense ranked 11th in the NFL, allowed 328.2 yards per game and 21.7 points per game.
Thornhill recorded 71 tackles and 3 interceptions in 2022. Thornhill will work with new Defensive Coordinator Jim Schwartz.
