The Cleveland Browns have been one of the most talked about teams in the NFL throughout the course of the offseason thus far.
At first, the talk had to do with superstar pass rusher Myles Garrett. Of course, as most fans know, Garrett requested a trade from the Browns to begin the offseason and was very vocal about being done with the Browns. However, he changed his mind and signed a lucrative extension to stay with the team.
Following the Garrett situation being resolved, the talk started revolving around the No. 2 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
No one knows what Cleveland is going to end up doing at No. 2. Some believe that Shedeur Sanders will be the pick, while others are predicting the team to go with pass rusher Abdul Carter.
All of that being said, the Browns have now been strongly urged to avoid one of those two names.
Cleveland Browns Urged to Avoid Huge Name at No. 2 in NFL Draft
Dalton Wasserman of Pro Football Focus has urged Cleveland to avoid drafting Penn State’s Carter with the No. 2 overall pick.
“With Myles Garrett signed to a long-term extension, the Browns are unlikely to target another edge rusher this early. Cleveland ranked third in pass-rush grade in 2024, so there are more pressing needs to address. Quarterback Cam Ward and two-way star Travis Hunter seem the most likely targets for this pick.”
Either Sanders or Hunter would give the Browns something they badly need. A new franchise quarterback is a must this offseason, while another top-tier weapon alongside Jerry Jeudy would also be a big win.
Right now, the quarterback position is looking murky at best for Cleveland. The team has Kenny Pickett penciled in as its starter currently. Deshaun Watson is the only other quarterback on the roster.
With most of the top free agency options already gone, the Browns should take Sanders. Bringing Deion Sanders’ son to Cleveland would give the team long-term star potential and would reignite energy and excitement into the fan base.
