The Cleveland Browns ensured that their position for quarterback was secured. They secured three “quarterback-ups” for this upcoming season. Awaiting final news on the ruling from the NFL, on Deshaun Watson, the Browns took no chances in securing quarterbacks for their upcoming season. The Browns signed four-year veteran quarterback, Josh Rosen, per the teams website, Clevelandbrowns.com. Jacoby Brissett and former Steelers quarterback Joshua Dobbs were also recruited.
Ironically, in 2018, Josh Rosen could have been drafted by the Browns as the Number One overall pick. Instead the Browns decided on Baker Mayfield. A decision that Rosen, clearly, did not appreciate back in 2018. After he was passed over for the Top 1, 2 and 3 spot. Rosen said , “I thought I should’ve been picked at 1, 2 or 3,” Rosen said, via ESPN.
Watson, the Browns’ current quarterback, was under investigation for allegations from several women, hired to provide personal care to Watson. The allegations were defined as acts of “lewd behavior” in various manners of sexual inappropriateness. Watson denied all allegations of any inappropriate behavior of which he has been accused. However, Watson settled twenty of the twenty-four lawsuits brought against him.
Recently, the NFL decided that Watson should be suspended for six games. There are those who disagree with the ruling, saying that more should have been done. However, former judge and disciplinary officer, Sue Robinson found Watson guilty of violating the league’s personal conduct policy, on these three counts by engaging in sexual assault; by engaging in conduct that poses a genuine danger to the safety and well-being of another person; and by engaging in conduct that undermines or puts at risk the integrity of the NFL.
Meanwhile, Watson has been permitted to training camp with the Browns. Recently, he has been practicing with all three “quarterback-ups”, Rosen, Brissett and Dobbs. One of which could have and perhaps, still may replace Watson this season.
