The Cleveland Browns have completed the first week of training camp and are in the middle of their second week of camp. They will have open practices on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday this week. Once Week 2 finishes, the team will have only open practice remaining for the rest of the summer, next Monday.
Unfortunately, the Browns have not been able to avoid the injury bug throughout the first week and a half of practice.
The Cleveland Browns’ starting CB was carted off the field on Tuesday

Martin Emerson Jr. suffered a non-contact lower-leg injury on Tuesday and was carted off the field. The initial belief was that he had sustained a significant Achilles injury that may be season-ending. Emerson underwent an MRI on Wednesday to determine the severity of the injury, as many fans held their breath, hoping for a better outcome.
Cleveland Browns have devastating news for a 33-game starter

During Wednesday’s press conference, Kevin Stefanski confirmed that Martin Emerson Jr. suffered a season-ending left Achilles tear, which will require surgery, as reported by Chris Easterling of The Akron Beacon Journal. This is devastating news for the young cornerback who enters a contract year and was looking to bounce back in 2025. The Browns must soon identify Emerson’s replacement.

Who replaces him on the outside?

The expectation is for Greg Newsome II to take over as the outside cornerback. The former first-round pick has mainly played in the slot throughout his first four years in the NFL but does have experience on the outside, with 256 snaps there in 2024, according to NFL Pro. As a result, former third-round pick Cameron Mitchell will then slide into the slot in his third season.
