The NFL is a harsh business, and on Tuesday night, Atlanta Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins, who signed a four-year $180 million contract this offseason, was benched for rookie quarterback Michael Penix Jr.
Cousins had a problematic season, throwing 18 touchdowns to 16 interceptions, and moving off of him with three games is a must if the Falcons want any chance of making the playoffs.
Is Kirk Cousins A Fit For The Cleveland Browns
The Cousins era is over in Atlanta, and the 36-year-old quarterback will be looking for a new home this offseason. Many people around the league have highlighted the Cleveland Browns as a possible landing spot.
On Tuesday, the social media page NFL Rumors stated that “Cleveland Browns make so much sense for Kirk Cousins next season.

Cousins and Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski spent time together with the Minnesota Vikings in 2019, and there is a chance the Cleveland Browns head coach wants to reunite with his former quarterback.
Cleveland will have significant issues at quarterback next season because they still have to decide on Deshaun Watson, who is coming off a season-ending Achilles injury and still has two years of guaranteed money on his contract.
Watson wasn’t exactly lighting it up when he was healthy, and many Browns fans don’t want him back, but would Cousins be a legit bridge quarterback?
If the Browns don’t draft a rookie quarterback in this year’s draft, they will need a bridge to get them to draft one in 2026. Is Cousins the right option?
Cousins suffered a season-ending Achilles last year, and this season probably had a long-term effect on him.
It has been hard to come back from an Achilles injury at any age, but getting close to 40 is a horrible age to be able to bounce back from an injury like that, and with Cousins turning 37 next summer, this might be the last we see of him as a quarterback.
If the Browns want a bridge quarterback, they should avoid Cousins and try to go after Sam Darnold or Justin Fields. Those two would give the team a legitimate chance to compete on Sundays.
