Kevin Stefanski and the Cleveland Browns are hoping to take a step in the right direction during the upcoming 2025 NFL season. After a horrible year in 2024 that ended in a 3-14 record, the Browns have had a busy NFL offseason.
First and foremost, the front office was able to avoid a Myles Garrett disaster. To begin the offseason, Garrett made a very vocal trade demand. Despite his desire to move on, Andrew Berry and company were able to convince him to stay and even locked him up to a lucrative long-term extension.
Next up, the team needed to fix its quarterback situation. Whether that was done or not remains to be seen, but Cleveland has five quarterbacks on the roster.
Ahead of the 2025 NFL season, the Browns might be open to making more moves if the right one presented itself. One intriguing player has been suggested as a potential trade asset.
Cleveland Browns Could Make Intriguing $12.7 Million Trade Before 2025 Season
Bleacher Report analyst Alex Ballentine name-dropped cornerback Greg Newsome II as a potential trade chip for Cleveland should the front office choose to make a move. He was mentioned a lot as an offseason trade candidate and before the trade deadline last year.

At 25 years old, Newsome would be a very intriguing player on the trade block. Any team around the NFL who needs help in the secondary would likely have interest.
During the 2024 NFL season, the former Northwestern standout recorded 27 total tackles, an interception, and five defended passes in 13 games. Back in 2023, however, he racked up 49 tackles, 0.5 sacks, two interceptions, a defensive touchdown, and 14 defended passes.
Newsome has shown flashes of big-time potential. He has not been able to turn those flashes into consistency, but he’s capable of doing so.
While there is a good chance the Browns will not have interest in trading Newsome, he’s a name worth keeping an eye on.
