Cleveland Browns Fans Raging After GM Andrew Berry Adds Disgruntled Receiver Following Embarrassing Loss – Week 1

On Sunday, the Cleveland Browns displayed an inept performance at home against the Dallas Cowboys, losing their season opener 33-17. In the loss, Cleveland’s leading man, quarterback Deshaun Watson, threw for only 169 yards on 45 attempts while throwing two picks. He signed a 5-year, $230 million fully guaranteed contract in 2022. Postgames, fans blasted Watson while also flaming General Manager Andrew Berry for not only trading premium capital to receive their “franchise signal-caller” but also signing him to an NFL record deal.

On Monday, the Browns made a move to potentially beef up their receiver room, signing pass-catcher Kadarius Toney, formerly of the Kansas City Chiefs, via free agency. Toney, a former first-round pick, has struggled on and off the field during his NFL career, making Cleveland fans disgusted with the move.

A day after the Cleveland Browns posted a historic stinker in their season opener on Sunday, decision-maker Andrew Berry went out and added Kadarius Toney to the practice squad. Toney began his career with the New York Giants as the 20th pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. After a season and a half of injuries, poor production, and public displays of anger towards the franchise, New York traded Toney to the Kansas City Chiefs, pairing him with two-time MVP quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Toney failed to perform with the Chiefs, recording 41 receptions for 340 yards in 20 regular season games. After multiple back-breaking penalties late in the 2023 season, Kansas City removed Toney from the active roster. The Chiefs declined to pick up Toney’s fifth-year option this offseason, leading to his release. With the reports of Toney signing with the Cleveland Browns on Monday, fans were quick to question the decision by Andrew Berry. Most did not hide their emotions via social media, clowning Berry for what some considered a “head-scratching” move.
