Much has been said about the intriguing quarterback room of the Cleveland Browns, especially after the team selected two quarterbacks in the 2025 NFL draft in Dillon Gabriel of the Oregon Ducks and Shedeur Sanders of the Colorado Buffaloes.
Cleveland took those QBs despite already having Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett and the injured Deshaun Watson in the fold.
That being said, it’s not entirely surprising that the Browns used some draft capital on quarterbacks. Many even expected them to use their No. 2 pick on a quarterback but decided to trade down to No. 5 and choose defensive tackle Mason Graham instead.
Dan Orlovsky wants to see the Cleveland Browns to go all in on rookie QBs

For former NFL quarterback Dan Orlovsky, who suited up for the Detroit Lions, Indianapolis Colts and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, he’d rather see the Browns not waste time in finding out what exactly they have in Gabriel and Sanders by giving at least one of them a chance to start right away.
Here’s what Orlovsky said about the Browns’ QB situation during Tuesday’s appearance on The Pat McAfee Show:
“I would do everything I can to start either Shedeur Sanders or Dillon Gabriel this year. I would only start Joe Flacco or Kenny, and probably Joe, if, ‘Oh my gosh, this is a disaster.’ And if you’re [head coach] Kevin Stefanski and [general manager]Andrew Berry, ‘Hey, if one of these two kids starts, we’re going to get fired,’ if it’s that bad throughout the preseason.”

Flacco provides the Browns with an experienced and proven presence under center, but hat 40 years old, he’s not going to be in the NFL for long. Giving Gabriel or Sanders the keys to the offense in 2025 could lead to an answer for a problem that Cleveland has been looking for, which is stability in the position.
