On Sunday, Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson’s season got off to a rough start against the Dallas Cowboys, and many have already written the veteran quarterback off.
Sunday was Watson’s 13th start since 2020 since he sat out all year in 2021, was suspended 11 games in 2022, and only started six games last season due to a shoulder injury.
Watson has yet to play like the quarterback we saw while he was in Houston, and if you tuned into the game on Sunday, you will see that he looked like he had never played football before.
There is a chance Watson will never be the quarterback he was once. When the Browns traded for him two years ago, they thought they were getting a Top-Five quarterback, but instead, they got a bottom-five one.
Browns fans are already calling for backup Jameis Winston to replace Watson, and they won’t be getting their wish at the moment, but if he plays like he did against the Cowboys for the next few weeks, Winston could be starting by October.
After last week’s performance, Watson received little praise, and one major media outlet ranked him low.
Cleveland Browns Deshaun Watson Gets No Love
Dan Pizzuta from the 33rd Team ranked Watson has the 31st quarterback heading into Week Two. The only quarterback ranked lower than him is Green Bay Packers backup Malik Willis who will be starting the next couple weeks due to Jordan Loves’ injury.

Even New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones is ranked higher than Watson and had a worse game last week.
The 28-year-old quarterback better get his act together or he will be riding the bench in no time. The Cleveland Browns have way too good of a team to let Watson try to figure himself out because they will lose many games due to his performance.
There is no reason that a quarterback who was traded for three first-rounders and guaranteed $230 million should be this bad.
Watson has three more games to figure it out, or Kevin Stefanski must make a change before the team loses all hope.
