The Cleveland Browns still need another quarterback. However, the trade to acquire former first-round pick Kenny Pickett from the Philadelphia Eagles may be a move that the team views as a potential starting option.
Pickett, who was the No. 20 overall pick back in the 2022 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers, has shown flashes of potential. Unfortunately, those flashes have not been consistent.
Fans do not want to see the Browns head into the 2025 season with Pickett as their projected starter. It might work out and Pickett could prove that he can still be a long-term quarterback, but there would be many question marks that he would need to answer.
All of that being said, Cleveland general manager Andrew Berry spoke out about Pickett and it’s clear that he is very high on the young signal callers ability.
Cleveland Browns GM Offers Bold Take About Former 1st-Round QB
As shared by Camryn Justice of News 5 Cleveland, Berry offered a very promising outlook about Pickett.
“Kenny Pickett’s a guy I believe in, we believe in,” Berry said.
Throughout his first three NFL seasons, Pickett has played in a total of 30 games. He has completed 62.4 percent of his pass attempts for 4,765 yards, 15 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions. In addition. he has picked up 306 yards and five more touchdowns on the ground.
While those numbers are not horrible, they are also aren’t inspiring. Pickett has a lot of work to do to prove that he can still be a starter at the NFL level.
At this point in time, most of the top free agency options have been scooped up. The Browns could consider targeting a quarterback in the 2025 NFL Draft, with Shedeur Sanders being a potential option at No. 2 overall. Kirk Cousins could be another name to keep a close eye on.
Expect to see Cleveland make some kind of move at the quarterback position. Berry may be high on what Pickett can bring to the field, but it would be shocking to see him enter the 2025 season as the starter.
