The Cleveland Browns pass-rushing unit hasn’t been able to stay healthy recently. Defensive Player of the Year winner Myles Garrett is dealing with a thigh and an Achilles injury, plus injuries to both feet, but will manage to toughen it out. Rotational pass rusher Ogbonnia Okoronkwo popped up on the injury report after not participating in Wednesday’s practice due to an illness. Finally, their young rotational pass rusher has dealt with an upper arm injury for a while.
The Cleveland Browns’ former third-round pick has been dealing with a triceps injury since training camp
Alex Wright suffered a strained triceps during their joint practice session with the Minnesota Vikings. He toughened up and played through the injury. Wright underwent an MRI after their Week 2 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars because of discomfort in his arm. The MRI determined that he suffered a partial tear in his triceps, but that didn’t deter him from playing in Weeks 3 and 4.
Unfortunately, Wright couldn’t avoid another injury to his triceps.
He announced devastating news
Alex Wright told fans via Instagram and X that an MRI determined that he suffered a torn triceps. He will undergo season-ending surgery, a devastating blow to their pass rush. Wright released a statement, and here’s what he had to say.
“After the Jacksonville game, I got an MRI on my tricep because i was dealing with pain from a strain in the same spot during joint practice vs the vikings. Somehow it became Freak accident because I didn’t even use my right arm on the play. So after finding out about it I still battled through the pain and all. Fast forward I got my last MRI checkup and it has progressed to worse from a partial tear. So now surgery is taking place which leads me to missing the rest of the season… anybody who knows me know I love football to death but 91 is going to be alright for sure. Everything happens for a reason, it’s in Gods plan. 91’s coming back with mean ass Vengeance I promise you 💯 I STAMP THAT!

Who will replace him in their pass-rushing rotation?
The Cleveland Browns must rely on Isaiah McGuire to replace Alex Wright in their rotation. McGuire, their fourth-round pick from last year’s draft, hasn’t played much throughout his young NFL career, suiting up for seven out of 21 games. So far, he has played three games in 2024 and represented 53 defensive snaps.
It’s his time to shine.
