Former Clemson Players And Football Fans Are Heartbroken Over Death Of Wide Receiver

The Clemson football family is heartbroken over the loss of a former player Diondre Overton. NFL players that were teammates of Overtonr are in pain and have been posting tributes to their fellow teammate all Saturday day.

The football program released a statement on Saturday and many former players have been posting tributes as well:

Overton passed away overnight at the young age of 26. Details have seemingly not come out yet, but many alumni in the school have been sharing their heartbreak over the news. Overton played with plenty of current NFL players and many of them are in pain over the news, including defensive lineman Jordan Williams who shared:

“I love you with everything in me twin, I wish i could talk to you and just hug you one last time,” Williams wrote on Instagram. “I’m so broken right now I don’t even have the words, please continue to watch over me and the guys and I promise we will continue to make you proud. there isn’t going to be a day that goes by where you aren’t on my mind, thank you for everything I’m blessed to be able to call you a brother for life . . Until we meet again 🕊️💔Bad Boyz 4L 🖤.”

Many other ex-Tigers shared tributes as well including; Tee Higgins, Lannden Zanders, and Amari Rodgers.

“Life isn’t fair. Your time here isn’t everlasting. Treat people with kindness and love them as Jesus would. Love you Dre, your life was such a blessing to everyone you came in touch with,” Zanders wrote.

“I love you 5L… I’m hurtin bad bout this right now. Rest easy Big Play,” said Overton’s Clemson teammate and current Cincinnati Bengal Tee Higgins.

“Life ain’t fair man!!! Please tell your loved ones you love them cause you truly never know,” said Amari Rodgers, another member of the Clemson wide receiver room with Overton.

Fans as well as players are sharing their heartbreak over this tragic news. Overton was just 26 years old and had all of his life ahead of him. He was clearly beloved by his program and his teammates alike.

“Hearing that Diondre Overton has died hurts my heart. Praying for comfort for his family, friends, and teammate,” said one fan.

“Condolences to Diondre Overton family members & friends. Praying for you guys during this difficult time,” said another fan.

“Rest in Peace Diondre Overton. Watched him play on Friday’s and Saturday’s. One of the best athletes to ever come thru the Triad area,” another fan added.

“Terrible news this morning. I am praying for the Overton family. RIP Diondre Overton. Forever a Tiger,” said one Clemson fan.

“We converge on campus today with heavy hearts RIP Diondre Overton,” said Clemson radio voice William Qualkinbush.
