Clemson’s Death Valley as you know it will be changing when you go visit this upcoming season. The landscape of college football is rapidly changing with NIL and major teams like USC, UCLA, Texas, and Oklahoma all changing conferences.
Clemson has also been very good as of late winning two national championships in the late 2010s. Because of all of these factors Death Valley is getting another makeover.
The Board of Trustees approved a $70M renovation project last summer. The new Jumbotron is the biggest attraction which will be around 7,166 Sq Feet making it one of the largest in the Country. Larger than Yankee Stadium, LA Coliseum, and Doak Campbell Stadium to name a few.
Ross Taylor, Clemson’s Assistant Football Communications Athletic Director nicknamed the Jumbotron “Dabotron”. The renovations will also include a new LED light system and well as increased stadium seating raising the max capacity up to 83,000 people.
The new LED lights look spectacular, and the DABOTRON* videoboard continues to progress. Construction updates at the link below, including these before and [not quite] after shots showing the size difference.

Daktronics is the company bringing this plan to life and has worked with the Tigers for numerous stadium renovation projects. Phase one of the project will be completed before the season kicks off. The Second Phase which includes the Rogers Family Lot and The First Level of the West End Zone will begin after this season.
