It was important for the New York Giants to fix its defensive line woes during the offseason. The Giants drafted Abdul Carter from the Penn State Nittany Lions third overall in the 2025 NFL Draft and they also drafted defensive tackle Darius Alexander from the Toledo Rockets in the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft.

This will potentially make life easier for Giants defensive tackle stud Dexter Lawrence. He used to play for the Clemson Tigers in college and so did defensive tackle Christian Wilkins. Wilkins and Lawrence were teammates in college and Wilkins was released by the Las Vegas Raiders on Thursday. Is there a chance that Wilkins could sign with the Giants in the future?
New York Giants Fans Want the Team To Sign Defensive Tackle Christian Wilkins

Before Wilkins signed with the Raiders before the 2024 season, Giants general manager Joe Schoen was showing interesting in the former Clemson defensive tackle. They didn’t sign him, but there is a chance that New York could make that move now and make Lawrence a happy camper. A lot of New York fans want to see Schoen sign Wilkins to the roster.
This is what some Giants fans had to say about Wilkins on Twitter:
Clemson boys reunion? The #Giants have been told Christian Wilkins won’t be healthy for the start of the season but could be available if they’re in the playoff hunt. It sounds like he wants play for a contender. Don’t get any ideas Howie #NYGiants #NFL pic.twitter.com/XqXovNFxf3

The #Giants signing Christian Wilkins would further cement that they’re going back to their roots. A suffocating defense that teams feared playing on Sunday’s.
Bring him home and reunite him with @agentdexy97 Joe Schoen 🔥 pic.twitter.com/ZgESo9qjr0

I don’t know where Christian Wilkins’ foot (and head) is at, but we know from #NYGiants Hard Knocks last year, they had interest in him. Here they note @agentdexy97 asked about him. Ultimately they wanted a pass rusher & passed on him. But maybe now it makes more sense for NYG pic.twitter.com/8iawRNnuoi

If you recall, during Hard Knocks, we learned the Giants had Christian Wilkins high on their free agency list; had they not made the deal for Brian Burns, it’s not farfetched to believe Wilkins might have joined the Giants and close friend Dexter Lawrence. https://t.co/K4qJXoDRRH

Wilkins played in only five games for the Raiders for the 2024 NFL season. He recorded 17 tackles and two sacks. It will be interesting to see if there will be any interest on the free agent market for him. If the Giants were to sign him to a cheap contract, this defense could be the best front in the NFL.
Having a defense with Wilkins, Lawrence, Alexander, Brian Burns, Carter, and Kayvon Thibodeaux is a scary thought for opposing offensive coordinators. Wilkins’s injury could be a major question to a lot of teams, but the Giants have enough depth to begin with on defense so they could take their time with him. He and Lawrence potentially reuniting together would make Giants fans happy.
