The 6’4” 290-lb behemoth Harris Sewell committed to Clemson on Wednesday over finalists Alabama, Texas A&M, Texas and Oklahoma. Sewell is one of the top linemen in the class of 2023, ranked the No. 5 offensive lineman in the nation as well as the No. 22 player in Texas by 247sports.
Sewell has fantastic run blocking instincts in the open field with extremely strong hands. Additionally he displays solid footwork and discipline in pass protection. He hails out of Permian High School in Odessa, Texas. Here’s Sewell’s dominance on display:

The man just keeps on chugging into every level of the defense, picking up defenders at each without slowing down. Cameron Onysty of the Aggies Wire described Sewell as “290lbs, but plays more like a mid-300 pounder, and runs like a mac truck with a nitro boost.”
With their twelfth commitment in the month of June; Dabo Swinney has been one of the hottest recruiters in college football. Clemson had the No. 5 recruiting class in the nation before Sewell’s commitment. The class is headlined by five-star quarterback Christopher Vizzina out of Birmingham, Alabama (praised right out of the belly of the Tide).
Sewell Adds To A Stacked Offensive Line
Sewell joins OT Ian Reed as the second four-star offensive lineman to commit to Clemson in this class. They however, likely aren’t done with the position; there are several commitments expected this week, including four-star tackle Zechariah Owens. Owens however, will pick between Clemson, Alabama and Penn State on July 4th. He is considered “a Clemson lean,” according to SE Elite Football.
In Conclusion
With this commitment, the Tigers continued its trend of stealing Texas offensive line recruits from UT and Texas A&M to reinforce its already-dominant protection.
All in all Sewell is “considered one of the best high school players in the country,” according to CBS Sports reporter Jakob Brandenburg, and will make an instant impact on the interior of Clemson’s line.
