C.J. Stroud is speaking out, offering thoughts and prayers to those affected by the deadly floods in Texas this week. The Houston Texans quarterback posted on social media a message of support as more information about the widespread devastation continues to surface from across the state.
“Praying for Texas”
The post was accompanied by a longer message from Stroud’s camp:
“We are deeply saddened by all the devastation caused by the floods in Kerr County, and the Jill Country Communities. Our hearts are with the families affected. We pray for the strength, hope and healing.”
The ingredients for disaster mixed over in Texas as the remnants of Tropical Storm Barry and a low-pressure system caused up to 20 inches of rain near Austin and San Angelo, Texas. It filled the Guadalupe River, which led to it rising up to 26 ft in a span of just 45 minutes.

The disaster may have hit home with C.J. Stroud as he now represents the colors of Texas in the NFL. The state is in a rough shape, with rescue efforts still underway and thousands already in doubt about where they’ll be headed in this calamity. Unfortunately, the danger is not over yet.
While lip service and fan-pleasing are part and parcel of being a known athlete, the same as being a public figure, using platforms to bring awareness, and maybe calling out for aid and prayers, is still an important aspect of doing your part. C.J. Stroud’s voice may be one in millions, but his voice is heard by millions, too.

C.J. Stroud Makes Impact Beyond the Field With Houston Youth Initiative
C.J. Stroud is making an impact off the field just as he is leading on Sundays. His dedication to Houston’s community shined recently through a heartfelt act supporting youth at Space City Church.
Stroud funded camp fees for seven kids at a church camp in Waxahachie, Texas, with each camper wearing his jersey number. C.J. Stroud is writing his messages through the checks he’s written.
“It means the world,” Pastor Von Won told KPRC 2 after C.J. Stroud’s foundation covered the costs. “The last thing we want is a parent stressing out.”

C.J. Stroud’s generosity and his awareness of community needs has been more than visible. He could easily stay in the NFL bubble. Instead, he’s investing in the next wave of kids who look up to him and might not have the means to follow dreams.
Whether he’s throwing touchdowns or supporting youth programs, C.J. Stroud continues to show that leadership isn’t limited to gameday.
