Over the past six seasons, the Cincinnati Bengals have become well-known for their slow starts. While that might panic some people, the ability of this team to bounce back and still make a deep playoff run has been the redeeming quality for this coaching staff. The question has to be asked: at what point does the inability of this team to start the season reflect too poorly on the head coach.
Cincinnati Bengals Fanbase Speaks Loudly Against Head Coach
Even with the team’s third Super Bowl appearance in the past sixty years, head coach Zac Taylor has not endeared himself to the fanbase after the sixth poor start to the season. To put a number to it, Taylor’s record in the first two games of the season is 1-11 and based on the halftime appearance by Cincinnati, a third loss may quickly be coming for this talented roster. Suffice it to say, the fanbase took to twitter throughout the game to emphasize what they think should happen if Taylor can’t stop the bleeding quickly.
If the @Bengals lose I want Zac Taylor and jail https://t.co/EpIhuQVeh0

At some point, Zac Taylor is going to lose his job for these slow starts.

I’ve been saying this all offseason, but now it’s clear:
1. Joe Burrow is good, but he’s NOT the elite QB that he once was. It’s time that everyone start accepting it for what it is.
2. Zac Taylor should be fired. They’re going backwards and he can’t fix it. #NFL #WASvsCIN pic.twitter.com/6Iz6rS7V6G

Zac Taylor should be fired. Most talented offensive roster in the league, bolstered offensive line. Runs the ball on 2nd and goal from the 14 out of a timeout. I could call a better game on Madden. Bum.

Many fans believe that Taylor is squandering the talent on this roster. The poor starts to the season are becoming almost as predictable as the poor finishes during the Marvin Lewis era. Luckily for him, the Cincinnati front office is notoriously slow-moving when it comes to firing their coaches but this fanbase will become increasingly harsh as the season goes on if this level of play continues.
