Cincinnati Bengals receiver Tyler Boyd is not holding back in fanning the flames of their rivalry with the Kansas City Chiefs. After claiming the Bengals would have beat the Chiefs in the playoffs if he was healthy, he had another log to add to the fire. He said the Bengals “one-upped” the Chiefs when they signed tackle Orlando Brown Jr. in free agency.
Cincinnati Bengals Tyler Boyd Fans Flames Of Chiefs Rivalry
Boyd loved the signing. “You know, we have a nice little rivalry with the Chiefs, and to see him come over, you know, it’s like, yeah, we one-upped y’all. But at the end of the day, he’s a great player,” he said when asked about Brown. To be fair, this is in line with what some Chiefs players have said about losing the star left tackle. Tight end Travis Kelce said that it hurt his soul to see Brown leave especially for a rival. It wasn’t that the Chiefs did not want him either. They attempted to re-sign him but could not meet his contract demands.
Rivalries Are Good For Fans
It is great to be a fan of the NFL when there are rivalries like this one. While the Chiefs have two Super Bowls, the Bengals have had a knack for knocking them out of the playoffs. Even last year’s playoff game was not a blowout by any means and if a couple of calls go a different direction, the Bengals might have returned to the big game. These types of offseason comments only make me and probably other fans more excited for their matchups in the season and hopefully in the playoffs.
Tyler Boyd now has some extra pressure when the Cincinnati Bengals play the Chiefs this season. He is going to have to prove that he was the missing link. Knocking off Patrick Mahomes is never easy but the Bengals have been the one team that has been consistently able to do it.
