The Cincinnati Bengals have found themselves in an inopportune position after once again losing their first two games of the 2024 NFL Season. While a tight loss last week to Kansas City might be considered excusable, an opening week loss to the relatively talentless New England Patriots bewildered fans and experts alike. If Cincinnati wants to figure out a way to correct course early on in 2024, they’ll desperately need to figure out a way to get their best players healthy and fast.
Cincinnati Bengals Struggle at the Wide Receiver Position
One of the biggest problems for Cincinnati has been its inability to establish a passing game to its wide receivers. Aside from former All-Pro standout Ja’Marr Chase, there has been very little consistency on the outside for Cincinnati. Even though second-year player Andrei Iosivas was touted as having an excellent game last week, the Princeton product still only brought in five receptions for thirty-three yards and two touchdowns. Cincinnati is in desperate need of the return of their favorite red zone target Tee Higgins.
Cincinnati Bengals Superstar Receives Positive News
Over the past few days, Higgins’ prospects of playing in Week 3 have improved after the Clemson product was kept out of the first two weeks of the season with a nagging hamstring injury. One excellent sign for Cincinnati was that Higgins participated in his usual pre-game warmups prior to the contest with Kansas City. Video of the star wideout catching tennis balls to zone in his hand-eye coordination can be seen below.

On top of Higgins participating in normal drills, additional good news was provided by head coach Zac Taylor on Monday afternoon during an interview with the media after practice. ‘
“I think everything is moving in a good direction,” Taylor said Monday according to Mike Petraglia of Jungle Roar.
Higgins also will receive the benefit of an additional day of rest since Cincinnati will play the Washington Commanders on Monday Night Football this week. While one day may not seem like much, it’s enormous when you are talking about a day-to-day injury status.
Following a week where elite quarterback Joe Burrow was at his finest distributing the ball to eight different receivers, the addition of a player like Higgins who brings a level of size and physicality that doesn’t exist anywhere else on the roster will be a huge addition for Cincinnati. While Chase is a special player, his greatest complement will certainly push this offense to new heights heading into the heart of the regular season.
