Like San Francisco 49ers’ Brandon Aiyuk, Ja’Marr Chase is set for a big payday for his new contract from the Cincinnati Bengals. This comes after CeeDee Lamb inked a massive extension from the Dallas Cowboys in a move that’s seen to benefit the NFL’s best wide receivers.
Lamb’s contract negotiations with the Dallas Cowboys have concluded successfully, as he has signed a four-year extension worth $136 million. This deal includes a notable $100 million guaranteed and a record-setting signing bonus of $38 million for wide receivers. With an average annual salary of $34 million, Lamb now ranks second among NFL receivers, just behind Minnesota’s Justin Jefferson.
Lamb’s holdout began during the offseason as he sought a new contract, which kept him away from team activities. His absence had been a focal point in Cowboys discussions, particularly after owner Jerry Jones downplayed the urgency of finalizing a deal. However, as the preseason approached, it became clear that both parties were motivated to reach an agreement.
Over his brief career, Lamb has established himself as a key asset for the Cowboys, recording over 5,100 receiving yards and 32 touchdowns. He had an impressive 2023 season, achieving career highs with 135 receptions, 1,749 yards, and 12 touchdowns. His ability to make big plays and contribute significantly to the offense has solidified his importance to the team’s success.
Cincinnati Bengals Star Ja’Marr Chase’s Projected Next Contract Revealed
Lamb’s new contract has opened up a good opportunity for wide receivers like Chase. According to an NFL analysis by Andrew Peters for Bleacher Report, the Bengals may have to shell out a big bag for incoming fourth-year star.
“San Francisco 49ers star Brandon Aiyuk and Cincinnati Bengals star Ja’Marr Chase are likely two of the top receivers due next for massive raises.
Aiyuk, who has participated in a hold-in and requested a trade, was projected by Spotrac to get a four-year, $104 million extension, whether that be from San Francisco or someone else. Chase’s projection from Spotrac is slightly higher than that at four years and $120 million,” Peters wrote.
At just 24 years old, Chase is entering his fourth season with promising potential. Last year, he recorded 1,216 receiving yards and seven touchdowns, down from his impressive rookie stats of 1,455 yards and 13 touchdowns.
With his contract lasting until 2025 and Joe Burrow back as quarterback, Chase is poised to achieve significant numbers this season, especially with the recent surge in receiver contracts. NFL fans can expect a big bag money for the wide receiver down the line, much like what Lamb got from the Cowboys.
