The Cincinnati Bengals are far from the start they wanted, but with Joe Burrow at the helm, they cannot be written off just yet. However, they are just a loss or two away from already sniffing any playoff hopes goodbye. They have started their season 0-3 with two of those games being heavy favorites to win.
If they do not make some changes soon, they may find themselves at the very bottom of their division. However, following their shocking loss to the Washington Commanders, their star quarterback had a private meeting with head coach Zac Taylor.
Joe Burrow Had a Private Chat With Zac Taylor
While Burrow had his best game of the season, the Bengals’ defense, however, played their absolute worst. Specifically, the Bengals’ defense made a rookie quarterback in his third professional start look like the best of all time in that game.
After their shocking loss, Burrow and Taylor had a “private” chat, that must have centered around how they wanted to attack the rest of the season. Burrow said it was a ‘very positive’ conversation and that they still have the entire season in front of them:
“It was a very positive conversation,” Burrow said to the media. “We’re not happy with where we’re at but by no means is the season over. We’re 0-3. There’s 14 (games) left to play. We just have to continue to get better and see where the cards fall in the next 10 weeks.”
The Bengals will have a decent hole to climb out of but their season is certainly not over. While there have only been 4 out of 162 teams ever making the playoffs after a 0-3 start, that stat is mostly taken from when the league only had 6 teams from each conference make the playoffs. Additionally, that stat was mostly taken from a 16-game season.
Even with all of that being said, they have quite a hole to climb out of if they want to turn the season around, and that was probably the center of the conversation between the head coach and quarterback.
When looking at the rest of their schedule, they have a real chance at stacking wins later on in the season:

Their season is not over, but they need to start with a win against Carolina if they have any hope of saving their awful start. If they shockingly start the season 0-4 then it is time to hit the panic button.
