In Sunday’s game, wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase of the Cincinnati Bengals scored a 63-yard touchdown against the Carolina Panthers. Slipping passed three defenders down the field and into the end zone. It’s definitely one for the highlight reel. It left people amazed at how he avoided all those defenders so effortlessly.
In a light-hearted joke, a reporter asked if Chase had applied baby oil to make it difficult for the defenders to grab him. In a normal week, this would be a weird nonsensical question, but since the recent arrest of rapper P. Diddy and the alarming amount of baby oil confiscated during the raid of his house, the topic has become a little more complicated.

Diddy, or Sean Combs, has been all over the media lately for his indictment on federal charges involving sex trafficking and racketeering. Over 1,000 bottles of baby oil were found, sparking jokes and widespread conversations. The rapper’s lawyer said the rapper got it from Costco but the company was quick to refute that they sell such a huge quantity of baby oil. So, nowadays it’s nearly impossible to mention baby oil without thinking of Diddy’s scandal.
Cincinnati Bengals Ja’Marr Chase Knew To Stay Away
And that is why, when Chase was confronted with questions about if he lathered himself with baby oil during the game, he immediately dismissed it. Standing amongst reporters and smiling while chucking the question, he said,
“We gotta keep that for somebody else, bro. That’s not my question right there… You can’t even ask that no more, bro. There’s too much going on in life with that, man. You can’t do that.”
Once again, Chase was completely on the ball here, acknowledging the awkwardness of the question while avoiding any unwanted association with the controversial topic. It was a joke of course but it also underlined how easily a completely innocent product like baby oil can become corrupt these days.
Thanks to Diddy’s behavior, baby oil might be a topic to avoid for now. But one thing is clear – Ja’Marr Chase won’t need any help slipping past defenders.
