On Saturday, the Cincinnati Bengals announced they were elevating a wide receiver to the active roster for Sunday’s game against the New England Patriots. The news came as the Bengals had to adjust their injury roster on Saturday for star wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase.
The Cincinnati Bengals have questions at WR for Week 1
On Friday’s injury report, the Bengals listed wide receiver Tee Higgins as doubtful to play the Patriots due to a hamstring injury. Higgins’ injury further complicates the Bengals’ situation at receiver because the team is not sure if Chase will play.
Ja’Marr Chase has an illness
Chase returned to practice this week but said it would be a game-time decision to if he’d be available to play the Patriots. Chase wants to agree to a contract extension before playing in Sunday’s game. Chase said he plans to play this season regardless of whether the Bengals extend him this season or not.
Per ESPN‘s Jeremy Fowler, the Bengals anticipate Chase will play against the Patriots. However, it’s unclear how effective Chase will be on Sunday due to a new complication.
The Bengals elevated Kendric Pryor
Per ESPN‘s Adam Schefter, the Bengals adjusted Friday’s injury to list Chase as having an illness. He remains questionable, per the injury report.
Per a statement Saturday by the Bengals, the team is elevating wide receiver Kendric Pryor from the practice squad to the active roster for Sunday’s game. He will revert to the practice squad on Monday.
The Bengals signed Pryor as an undrafted free agent in 2022. He’s spent time with the Jacksonville Jaguars. He was released by the Bengals at the end of training camp and brought back to the practice squad for the season.
Pryor has no stats in the NFL. He played college football for Wisconsin.
