The Cincinnati Bengals could move OT Jonah Williams
The Cincinnati Bengals signed the top left tackle in this year’s free agency. Orlando Brown Jr. will help to fortify the unit that struggled against the Kansas City Chiefs in the playoffs. After Brown was signed, former Bengals starting left tackle Jonah Williams requested a trade. Head coach Zac Taylor gave an update on where he sees Williams next season.
According to the Bengals website, Taylor, speaking at the League Annual Meeting, encouraged Williams and said Williams would compete for the starting right tackle position in Cincinnati.
“I like everything about Jonah. I’m excited to see him come in and compete at right tackle,” Taylor said. “He’s always been everything we wanted him to be about. We’ve never had issues with him. Hopefully we can work through this and he can come in and compete at right tackle for us. That’s what we’re counting on him to do … He’s never been an issue and I don’t anticipate that being an issue.”
Moving to right tackle would be a major transition for Williams. He’s only played at left tackle in his three seasons of playing in the NFL.
