The Baltimore Ravens hired a former NFL head coach who was previously retired.
The Ravens are putting together their staff for 2025 after losing 27-25 to the Buffalo Bills in the divisional round.
John Harbaugh is on a mission
On Monday, ESPN published an article about the future of John Harbaugh with the Ravens. Harbaugh, who has been with Baltimore since 2008, is set to coach on the final year of his contract in 2025. At 62, Harbaugh isn’t fretting about his career.
“I’m happy, and however that goes, I trust God,” Harbaugh said. “I trust the people I work with every day who I love, who are my friends, but more importantly, we’re on a mission together, and as long as that goes, as long as God permits that to go, I’m all about it. I’m fired up for it, and I’m not worried about those kinds of things. They take care of themselves.”
The Baltimore Ravens are hiring Chuck Pagano
On Tuesday, the Ravens hired a former NFL head coach to help Harbaugh on his mission. Per Baltimore’s website, Chuck Pagano will be the team’s new senior secondary coach.
“It is exciting to add Coach Chuck Pagano to our defensive staff and continue to develop and grow our young and talented secondary,” Harbaugh said in the Ravens’ statement. “Chuck brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and coaching talent to our team. He has deep ties to the program and is excited to get to work.”
At 64, Pagano last coached as the defensive coordinator for the Chicago Bears from 2020-21. He announced his retirement in January of 2021. He was the head coach for the Indianapolis Colts from 2012-2017. Pagano went 53-43 with the Colts and 3-3 in the postseason.
Pagano, a native of Boulder, Colorado, was a secondary coach under Harbaugh for the Ravens from 2008-2010 before being promoted to defensive coordinator in 2011.
