Christian McCaffrey and the San Francisco 49ers had a bit of a rude awakening on Thursday as the fire alarm went off at roughly 6 a.m. at their team hotel on the outskirts of Las Vegas ahead of the Super Bowl. While the hotel did not need to be evacuated as engineers noted it was a false alarm, the ringing did go on for roughly 18 minutes and gave those at the hotel a non-negotiable wake-up call.
Some players, like tight end George Kittle, didn’t seem to be too altered by the alarm going off, but as he went down to breakfast and spoke to some of his teammates, he noted that McCaffrey and pass rusher Nick Rosa were two who were particularly miffed.
“It had to be them,” Kittle said after taking an informal poll with his teammates to see who was the grumpiest, via ESPN. “You don’t want to wake the sleeping bear. But Christian was not happy, too.”
In fact, McCaffrey indicated that there may have been some gamesmanship going on regarding the alarm as he didn’t believe it was an accident.
“I think there’s no way it’s random,” Christian McCaffrey said. “It’s part of it. It’s just more wood thrown on the fire.”
It’s clear the 49ers running back believes the Chiefs were trying to get an edge on the Super Bowl.
Bosa agreed with McCaffrey.
“I’m sure somebody did it,” Bosa said. “It kind of reminded me of Philly when they had this construction going on outside. It was early in the morning and they were like demolishing a bridge right outside of our hotel. We haven’t had the best luck. But no excuses.”
It’s been an odd week for the 49ers as they gear up for Super Bowl LVIII against the Kansas City Chiefs. On top of this latest situation arising with the alarm at their hotel, theand drew criticism from the team, according to CBS Sports Lead NFL Insider Jonathan Jones. Despite that, they elected to stay at the university to prepare for Sunday’s title game.
Christian McCaffrey’s Mom Makes Shocking Admission Ahead Of Super Bowl
The mystery of the 6am fire alarm at the 49ers’ hotel may already be solved…according to McCaffrey’s mom.
While speaking about the incident on her “Your Mom” podcast, Lisa McCaffrey told Ashley Adamson that she had some “inside info” regarding the fire alarm.
A little insider info, they did have the alarm pulled at 6 a.m. at the hotel,” Lisa stated. She would go on to suggest that it was an “inside job,” accusing a member of the Kansas City Chiefs’ staff of committing the act.
“Their hotel is big-time lockdown, so I don’t think it was a fan infiltrating. I bet it was maybe an employee from Kansas City,” Lisa suggested.
According to the original report, the fire alarm was pulled at the Hilton Lake Las Vegas Resort and Spa at roughly 6am Thursday morning.
Several of the 49ers players have spoken out about it, claiming that it was annoying and clearly a prank, while also stating that it really only woke them up a few minutes earlier than they were scheduled to get up that morning.
Christian McCaffrey told reporters he “just laughed” when he heard the fire alarm go off, while Kittle claimed he locked himself in his bathroom for 20 minutes to avoid having to exit the hotel. But Bosa then went on to say McCaffrey was actually frustrated with the entire incident and when he was interviewed he sounded a bit annoyed to say the least.
It feels like the Chiefs are pulling out all stops ahead of the Super Bowl.
