A complete receiver in Chris Olave
The Saints traded away their 16th overall pick plus a few middle-round selections to get the 11th overall pick. They selected the former Ohio State Buckeye, Chris Olave. The speedy 6-foot receiver ran a 4.39 during the combine, indicating he’ll be a star at the next level. The Saints organization truly sees big things for the rookie receiver, as they made it a point to tie his name to New Orleans.
WR room in New Orleans
The Saints WR core is an interesting one. Veteran Michael Thomas is returning after multiple seasons missed with an ankle injury. The Saints also added veteran Jarvis Landry, who is sure-handed and has plenty of experience. The two 29-year-old receivers are slowly getting up there in age from a fantasy perspective.
In addition to Landry and Thomas, Marquez Callaway and Trequan Smith are in the mix as well. In what seems like a crowded WR room for the Saints, Olave has proven that he can be a great contributor. How will the Saints use him in his rookie season?
Upcoming Rookie Season Outlook
Chris Olave is currently No. 2 on the depth chart behind Michael Thomas. Should Michael Thomas be reinjured or have any other issues regarding his health, Olave would be the clear-cut No. 1. Then, he could quickly take over the lead role if he can prove that he has more juice than a beat-up older version of Thomas. Olave is currently being drafted around the 5th to 6th round in dynasty startups with huge upside for his rookie season.
