The Chiefs are 3-0 on the year, but you’d never know that based on some reports coming out of Kansas City. Their title defense has started out perfect record wise, but fans are noticing a major shift within the team that they aren’t used to. Most notably being star tight end Travis Kelce having a lackluster start to the season. Through three games he has eight catches for 69 yards, stats that you’d expect from him in a single game.

It was a tight win for the Kansas City Chiefs against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday night. Many of the Chiefs’ offensive plays were questionable. It was, however, Travis Kelce’s premature celebration of an interception that was probably the worst play:

Nate Lunak of Total Pro Sports further detailed this play:
While Kansas City was on the Falcons’ 15-yard line, Mahomes lined up in shotgun before dropping back and throwing a ball intended for tight end Noah Gray in the end zone.
Once the ball is in the air, you see Kelce at the bottom of the screen with his back to the ball, raising an arm in the air, completely expecting to be getting ready for a touchdown.
Of course, though, the ball fell into Justin Simmons’s hands, making Kelce’s celebration look very silly.
This makes me unbelievably happy lol,” said one comment.
“I need someone to always believe in me the way Travis believes in Pat,” said another.
“Couldnt happen to a more deserving pair,” continued a third.
“Dude is such a tool it’s unbearable,” added a fourth.
Of course, for Kelce, this likely isn’t the first time he’s celebrated a Mahomes throw while the ball is in the air, but it’s certainly the first time it’s backfired this much.
Through three games, Kelce has recorded just eight receptions for 69 yards and zero touchdowns. That’s definitely his worst start to a season, and he knows it.
“Whatever it is, it’s football, baby. Come on now,” Kelce said on the latest episode of New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce. “I’m not getting caught up in getting the targets and all that. I just want to have a successful offense. I think Pat’s doing a great job of finding the open guy and making the right decisions right now. We just have to keep finding… It’s a new offense, new players, new pieces, and we’re just finding how to have success throughout the season.”
