A new impressive achievement has been added to Taylor Swift’s resume:
On Wednesday, the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) announced the winners of the 39th Japan Gold Disc Awards, and Swift walked away with three major honors.
She was named Western Artist of the Year, making history as the first female artist in eight years to win the award.
Her latest album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” also took home Western Album of the Year and was recognized in the Best 3 Albums (Western Music) category.
According to their website, the Japan Gold Disc Awards have been around since 1987 and are based on CD sales, video sales and paid music downloads throughout the year.
Unlike some other major music awards, these honors are not decided by a panel of judges or industry insiders but are instead determined by actual sales data, making them a true reflection of an artist’s popularity in Japan.
Swift is no stranger to international recognition, but this latest achievement is especially significant given the competitive nature of Japan’s music industry.
Given the massive success of “The Tortured Poets Department” around the world, including in Japan, it’s no surprise that Swift dominated the competition.
While she prepares for another NFL season, Travis Kelce, her boyfriend, has also been making headlines. The legendary tight end announced he will return for the 2025 season. Here is a look at his 2024 stats:
