The Kansas City Chiefs are learning of some massive suspension news on Thursday afternoon.  Super Bowl 59 saw Kansas City come one win shy of a three-peat in the Super Bowl era.  Their lopsided loss, however, has fueled this organization to get back on top.

Now, they’re learning of some pretty significant suspension news.

It appears the NFL has made their decision when it comes to suspending Rashee Rice, a Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver who was involved in a multi-vehicle collision last year, for eight charges:

According to a report from ML Football, the third-year wide receiver “is not expected” to receive a suspension for the 2025 NFL season. Rashee Rice played four games last year before suffering a brutal season-ending knee injury in a road game against the Los Angeles Chargers.

On March 30 of last year, Rice was involved in a multi-vehicle accident in Dallas while street-racing with a friend, Theodore Knox. Rice was driving a Lamborghini Urus and sped at 119 MPH, causing an accident involving four other vehicles.

Two people were briefly hospitalized with injuries from the accident and recovered. Rice turned himself in and was hit with eight charges, including one count of aggravated assault and one count of collision involving bodily harm.

The 25-year-old Rashee Rice is also facing four lawsuits, with one plaintiff seeking up to $1 million in damages.

While the legal processes (criminal and civil) play out, it appears the Chiefs won’t have to worry about Rice missing any time due to suspension. From a football standpoint, it’s a win for the defending AFC champions.

The Chiefs finished 15-2 and reached Super Bowl 59 last season, but the offense clearly missed Rice’s presence on the field. Tight end Travis Kelce finished as their leading pass-catcher with 97 receptions for 823 yards and three touchdowns.

Rookie Xavier Worthy was second on that list with a 59-638-6 statline. The Chiefs’ lack of a No. 1 receiver was especially evident in their ugly Super Bowl 59 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, with none of their pass-catchers able to draw separation against the league’s No. 1 defense.
