The Kansas City Chiefs are going through a tumultuous off-season. Ever since their defeat in Super Bowl 59 to the Philadelphia Eagles, the team has tried retooling their roster to get back to the Super Bowl in 2025.
However, there have been multiple off-the-field distractions that have defined their 2025 off-season thus far. Patrick Mahomes‘ father is just the latest.

A former Major League Baseball pitcher and father of Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes wants desperately to attend an event:
Mahomes Sr. is seeking legal permission to travel for a sports card convention next month.
According to TMZ Sports, Mahomes hopes to attend a sports card convention in Minnesota from April 12 to 13. However, due to his ongoing probation following a DUI conviction, a Texas judge is currently reviewing his request.
Mahomes Sr. has to go this route after pleading guilty to driving while intoxicated last year.
TMZ Sports added that if Pat Mahomes Sr. is allowed to attend this convention, he’ll need to abide by the probation rules.
He would also be required to take a urine test when he returns to Texas.

The father of Patrick Mahomes, Mahomes Sr., has a history of being on the wrong side of the law.
An adult misdemeanor charge was filed against him in the 1990s. He committed a criminal non-traffic offense in the early 2000s.
He was charged with DWI in South Dakota in 2008 and Smith County, Texas in 2019.
According to Us Weekly, he was charged twice with the same offense in 2018.
In 2024, he was arrested just eight days before the Kansas City Chiefs were scheduled to face the San Francisco 49ers in the Super Bowl.

It will be interesting to see what the next step is for the Mahomes family regardless of this situation.
