The Kansas City Chiefs got themselves a big favor in terms of their offseason plans as tight end Travis Kelce is set to return for the 2025 season. Chiefs general manager Brett Veach all but confirmed that team is planning to draft as if the future Hall of Famer is back, after speculation that Kelce might retire.
#Chiefs GM Brett Veach said at the Combine that TE Travis Kelce is “fired up” about entering the final year of his contract and playing.
“We left it as, he’d be back and we’re excited to get him back and get him going.”

Travis Kelce’s Legacy
At 35 years old, Travis Kelce has nothing more to prove. He has three Super Bowl rings, ties for most tight ends in a Super Bowl win, and a record book that solidifies him as one of the finest tight ends of all time. Though he garnered 823 receiving yards in his less than productive season, his lowest ever since 2014, he’s still one of the Chief’s most influencial players on offense.
Kelce has till March 14 to officially decide, but everything points to a return for a 13th NFL season. But head coach Andy Reid echoed a similar sentiment to that of Kelce, who was told by Reid to take some time off before making a final decision and he expects to see Kelce suit up for Kansas City in 2025.

With the Eagles on the verge of reuniting with their tight end of the future, Kelce’s return is important for Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes, whose team has leaned on the veteran tight end in clutch moments in their time together. Even in this season when Kelce’s numbers slumped, he was still the heart and soul of the Chiefs, and it’s the leadership and reliability that he brings that are still integral to that success.
Now, Kansas City is free to devote energy to other roster needs since their All Pro tight end is presumably a lock to come back. Kelce has yet to announce a decision but the Chiefs are confident they will have their security blanket on the field again next year.
