Just recently, the Kansas City Chiefs pulled off a close win over the Los Angeles Chargers, all thanks to a fortunate field goal by placekicker Matthew Wright. After the game, tight end Travis Kelce shared his thoughts on how the game ended and how he felt about it.
During the match itself, the Patrick Mahomes-led team found a way to overcome their slow start against the Chargers to get the 19-17 victory. Throughout the game, Kansas City produced 0.018 per play while their defense allowed 0.103. The former is ranked 14th in the league when it comes to offense while the latter is 13th among 24 NFL teams.
For his part, Mahomes faced constant pressure against the Chargers. This was the case for 17 of his 47 dropbacks. Ultimately, the Chiefs quarterback ended the game with 5-of-14-for 66 yards and a sole interception. The thing is, his performance on the field was drowned by another play.
With only 4:35 left on the clock and down by a point to the Chargers, Mahomes picked up the pace for Kansas City by scrambling out of the pocket, getting past a tackle, and finding Kelce to achieve a first down. This gave them enough time nail down a field goal by choosing to run it back instead of going for a touchdown.
Fortunately, Wright got the job done and his kick was good to seal a win for the Chiefs. This victory helped the team improve their record to 12-1 and stay on top of AFC West.

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid, meanwhile, reiterated his trust in Wright and the placekicker got the job done in the process. Wright, on the other hand, revealed that he focused on what he had to do instead of worrying about the game situation.
Kansas City’s win over the Chargers has solidified their standing in the NFL. If they keep this up, there’s a big chance Mahomes, Kelce, and company can hoist up their third consecutive Super Bowl in no time at all.
