The Kansas City Chiefs are determined to get back to the Super Bowl in 2025. Falling just one win shy of the first ever three-peat in the Super Bowl era left a bad taste in their mouth. Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid will be committed to getting back to the big dance.
However, the team will have to do so without one key person.
Breaking: Chiefs Handed Retirement News Just Before The Start Of The 2025 Season

While Travis Kelce may still be around for one more year, another longtime legend and fan favorite has decided to hang up his cleats:
In a video posted on the team’s X/Twitter account, the Kansas City Chiefs announced that Dan Meers, the man who has donned their “KC Wolf” mascot suit for the past 35 years, has decided to retire.
Meers attended more than 10,000 events as KC Wolf, including 375 total NFL contests, nine Pro Bowls, six international games and five Super Bowls.
A member of the Mascot Hall of Fame since 2006, Meers also experienced multiple incidents during his run as KC Wolf. At the 2001 Pro Bowl, Meers tackled a fan who crashed the field, allowing security officials to step in and remove the spectator.
In Nov. 2013, Meers suffered seven broken ribs, a shattered tailbone and a collapsed lung while practicing a stunt on a zipline. Meers reached a settlement and continued to work with the Kansas City Chiefs for 12 more years.
Here is the video:

The Chiefs will presumably hire a replacement to take over the mascot suit that Meers donned for 35 years. They haven’t announced anything regarding job applications, but it doesn’t hurt ecstatic Kansas City fans to get their resumes ready.
All the best to Meers in his retirement.
Year one of the post-Dan Meers era will begin on Sept. 5, with the Chiefs meeting the rival Los Angeles Chargers at Arena Corinthians in São Paulo, Brazil.
This will be the first game of the 2025 NFL International Series, and the second NFL game in Brazil. The Philadelphia Eagles and Green Bay Packers kicked off their 2024 season in Arena Corinthians as well, with Jalen Hurts and company winning 34-29.
