The Chicago Bears had a very notable 2024 NFL Draft. This was because they had two of the first 10 picks in that draft. Those picks were QB Caleb Williams and WR Rome Odunze respectively.
Now, the Bears have locked one of these elite draft picks down for the next four years. Find out which player it is and the contract details below.
Chicago Bears Sign WR Rome Odunze to 4-Year Deal
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Chicago Bears have come to an agreement with first-round draft pick Rome Odunze. The contract lasts for the next four years, and Odunze will receive over $22 million in that stretch.
Along with this, Schefter reports that the contract will include a fifth-year option. Plus, Odunze is expected to receive a signing bonus worth around $13 million.
Caleb Williams Still Needs a Contract
This contract news puts a bigger spotlight on QB Caleb Williams. Now that fellow first-round pick Rome Odunze has been locked down by the Bears, Chicago now has to focus on getting a deal done with Caleb Williams before the start of the regular season. At the time of writing, there has been no contract news that has come out on this.
However, we can start to speculate on what Caleb Williams will receive from the Bears. Considering he was the top overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, he will certainly receive more money than Odunze. In other words, expect Williams’ contract to be worth more than $35 million.
Then, there is Jayden Daniels. He was the second overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft and was selected by the Washington Commanders. Earlier this offseason, Daniels and the Commanders came to an agreement on a contract. So, what is that contract worth? Daniels’ contract is worth nearly $38 million over four years.
Chicago Bears Moving Forward
Bears fans should not panic about Williams still needing a contract. This will likely be taken care of before the start of the regular season. However, they can rest easier now that WR Rome Odunze has an official contract.
These two players are expected to be two of the most impactful rookies in 2024. In a couple of months, we should see what these two rookies are made of once regular season football begins. Their first game is against the Tennessee Titans on September 8th at 1 p.m. EST.
