The Chicago Bears are hosting free-agent linebacker Shaquille Quarterman for a workout, according to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Quarterman, 26, was originally chosen by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft and has appeared in 63 games.
Through the first four seasons of his career, Quarterman has logged 54 total tackles and 3.5 tackles for loss, before reaching free agency for the first time this offseason.
During the 2023 season, Quarterman saw his role dramatically reduced, appearing in only eight defensive snaps while continuing to contribute on special teams for Jacksonville.
Linebacker has been a position of need for the Bears across the past several offseasons, but added former Eagles defensive star T.J. Edwards early in free agency in 2023.
In the Windy City, if the Bears choose to sign Quarterman, he could immediately contribute on special teams while fighting for a starting role in Chicago’s front-seven during training camp and the upcoming preseason.
