Chicago Bears’ Jonathan Owens has taken a lot of flak for skipping training camp to watch his wife, Simone Biles, compete in the Olympics. After winning another gold medal, the NFL safety dropped a fiery message for her detractors.
Owens was present to watch his wife win two gold medals at the 2024 Paris Olympics. However, he will not be in attendance for Biles’ final day of competition. Owens, a safety for the Chicago Bears, was excused from training camp from July 29 to August 3 to witness Biles’ team gold and individual all-around victories.
Despite some flight issues, Owens arrived in time to see these historic moments. He described the experience of holding and wearing Biles’ gold medal, as well as his tourist activities in the city. Owens has become a dedicated gymnastics fan, frequently tracking his wife’s scores and those of other athletes.
While Owens is nervous for Biles, he said his nerves come from a place of love and admiration for her exceptional abilities. The couple, who married in 2023, have been navigating the spotlight together. Owens has faced some criticism on social media for his comments about their relationship, but he remains a steadfast supporter of his wife’s Olympic journey.

Contrary to what the haters have expected, Biles has dominated the Olympics in her time competing on the global stage. This prompted Owens to post a message for all of her haters, as seen in a screenshot captured on his social media account.

Biles won a total of four medals, three of them gold, in the women’s artistic individual all-around, vault, and team all-around events. She also secured a silver medal in the floor exercise. Her Olympic medal haul now stands at 11 overall, cementing her legacy as one of the greatest gymnasts of all time.
With Biles dominating in the Olympics, Owens got to prove her haters all wrong. Even with the NFL star skipping camp, it looked like the whole trip was worth it for the Bears safety.
