Caleb Williams has made a lot of heads turns, even as early as the preseason. This led former NFL star Drew Brees to drop a splashy prediction about the Chicago Bears rookie quarterback and his future in the league.
In his second NFL game, Caleb Williams showcased significant improvement as the quarterback for the Chicago Bears. He opened the game against the Houston Texans with an impressive first drive, completing all five of his passes for 55 yards, culminating in a 53-yard field goal that tied the game. This performance marked a stark contrast to his debut, where he struggled with a 55.7 passer rating and only managed 93 passing yards.

During the initial drive, the rookie converted two crucial third downs, demonstrating his ability to perform under pressure. He delivered a 14-yard completion to DeAndre Carter on third-and-12 and followed it up with a 19-yard pass to DJ Moore on third-and-two. Although the drive ended with a sack by Texans defenders Will Anderson and Danielle Hunter, Williams’ execution illustrated his growth as a rookie quarterback.
Despite the Bears’ offensive line facing challenges again, Williams’ early success provided a glimmer of hope for the team. Fans and analysts were eager to see if he could maintain this momentum throughout the game.
Former NFL Quarterback Drew Brees Makes Awesome Prediction for Chicago Bears Rookie Quarterback Caleb Williams

At this point in time, a lot of analysts and personalities have given their take on how Williams’ career is shaping up to be. Among those individuals was Drew Brees, as seen in an article written by DJ Siddiqi for ClutchPoints.
“Everybody’s waiting to see what Caleb Williams is going to do,” said Brees in an interview with ClutchPoints on behalf of his investment in Sports Illustrated Tickets. “He’s made some splash plays in the preseason, I think there’s going to be plenty of that during the season. I think there’s going to be some struggles.
It’s just the nature of the beast. He’s on a team that still has some holes to fill, quite honestly. He plays in a top division, they’re going to play the Detroit Lions twice. They’re going to go out and play the Packers twice. Its going to be tough sledding, but certainly the upside for him is pretty remarkable.”
The challenges Brees said was seen just recently. The Bears’ plan to support Williams is unraveling due to a struggling offensive line. After two games, Williams has only 267 yards, no touchdowns, and two interceptions, facing relentless pressure and frequent sacks. With little help from receivers and a stagnant run game, the Bears must quickly address these issues to protect Williams’ development.

As the season progresses, the quarterback’s development will be vital for the Bears, who are counting on him to lead their offense effectively. His ability to adapt and improve will be closely watched as he seeks to secure his first touchdown pass in the NFL.
