The Chicago Bears have built an offense that has the potential to be explosive, around No. 1 overall pick, Caleb Williams, at quarterback, but now, they may have the opportunity to add a potentially transformational piece to a defense searching for an identity.

Williams has the luxury of electrifying receivers Keenan Allen, D.J. Moore, and fellow rookie Rome Onduze along with versatile running back D’Andre Swift creating an offense that has the chance to be dynamic. However, the defense leaves much to be desired.
One year removed from general manager Ryan Poles acquiring Montez Sweat at the trade deadline to bolster the pass rush, Chicago may have the chance to nab a productive veteran to pair on the opposite side of the defensive line.
Chicago Bears Urged to Target Matthew Judon

New England Patriots veteran pass rusher Matthew Judon may be the biggest name available at the Bears’ biggest need, and Chicago has both the resources to pull off a trade as well as the cap space to sign the defensive playmaker to a long-term extension.
“Chicago has a defense that solidified after last year’s in-season addition of Montez Sweat,” Kristopher Knox writes for Bleacher Report, linking Judon to the Bears. “And finished the year ranked 12th overall. Adding Judon as a high-end complement to the 2023 Pro Bowler would make a ton of sense for the Bears.
“Despite only playing nine games with Chicago in 2023, Sweat led the team with six sacks. He was the only Bears defender to record more than five sacks on the season. Fifth-round draft pick Austin Booker is the only notable addition the team made to its pass rush this offseason.
“While acquiring Judon wouldn’t directly aid Williams, it would round out the roster and help take some pressure off of the rookie quarterback.”
Over the past three seasons, Judon produced 32 sacks, and if he can prove capable of staying healthy may be exactly the kind of piece along the front-seven that the Bears have been searching for.
Judon, who has logged 66.5 sacks thus far in his career, is set to count $6.5 million against the cap this season, but the Bears have upwards of $12 million in cap space this season, and in excess of $60 million in spending flexibility in 2025 to accommodate a long-term extension.

Judon would be a perfect addition to acquire which would increase overall efficiency leading to overall field positions allowing offense a much better takeover of the football as well as present DE’s to also be open to playing interior on passing plays and his ability to mentor the up and coming DES ALSO
