The trade deadline often goes by in the NFL without much happening, but this year there were a ton of moves all over the league, but the Chicago bears jump started the rebuild at the trade deadline.
The deadline has come and pass.

Trading Away Robert Quinn
Robert Quinn had a record-breaking season last year for the Chicago Bears. The then 31-year-old pass rusher tallied 18.5 sacks to set the Bears record. in a city that prides itself on defense that record stood for decades. However, this year Quinn hasn’t gotten off to the greatest start & a 32-year-old pass rusher going through a rebuild just wasn’t a good fit. He was only able to get 1 sack in a Bears jersey this year, so his trade value wasn’t very high. Ryan Poles was able to get a 4th round pick from the Philidelphia Eagles to send him to the city of brotherly love to play for a title contender in Philly. I felt like this was a smart trade that made sense for both sides, bears get a needed draft pick & Philly adds to its stable of pass-rushers.

Trading Away Roquan Smith
This trade was a bit of a surprise. Roquan Smith is a 25-year-old off ball linebacker that currently leads the NFL in tackles. However, he did have a hold in this off-season & a trade demand. If he had an agent who knows, he’s probably still a bear, but his asking price was rumored to be over 20 million dollars, that’s a steep price for an off-ball linebacker that’s had an up & down season this year. They got a 2nd round pick a 5th round pick & AJ Klein (LB) from Baltimore to move on from the linebacker & will look for young players to fill his shoes, it will be a huge job for new Head Coach Matt Eberflus.

Bears Acquire Chase Claypool from the Pittsburgh Steelers
It wasn’t all sell for the Chicago Bears; they used their 2nd round pick to go get Justin Fields a downfield threat that he badly needed. Chase Claypool burst onto the scene in his rookie season totaling 873 yards in 6 games started for 9 touchdowns! The 6’4 238-pound wide receiver runs a 4.42 40-yard dash. Has the size & speed to stretch the field & go up & get the ball at its highest point. He played his college football nearby in South Bend, Indiana for Notre Dame with teammate Cole Kmet, Equanimeous St. Brown & Sam Mustipher he should feel right at home in this Chicago Bears locker room.
