Chicago Bears rookie wide receiver Luther Burden III exited the third quarter with an apparent ankle injury against the Cleveland Browns and did not return. Ben Johnson initially described the injury as day-to-day. Ever since Week 10, Burden has seen an uptick in targets and playing, hauling in 23 passes for 308 yards, equating to 65 receptions for 873 yards across a 17-game season, and logging 219 snaps in that span. Through his first seven games, he had 13 receptions for 171 yards and one touchdown across 111 snaps.
Chicago Bears deliver bad news for rising rookie receiver

Luther Burden III did not participate during Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday’s practices, a negative sign regarding his availability for Week 16. On X, the Bears announced they have already ruled out the rising rookie receiver for Saturday Night Football against the Green Bay Packers. This will be the second game Burden has missed this season, previously missing Week 9 due to a concussion.

He isn’t the only WR ruled out
Rome Odunze has missed the previous two games with a stress fracture in his foot that is expected to sideline him for the rest of the regular season. He sat during practice, causing the Bears to rule Odunze out. Expect the offense to count on wide receivers D.J. Moore, Olamide Zaccheaus, Devin Duvernay, and Jahdae Walker, along with tight ends Colston Loveland, Cole Kmet (who is questionable), and Durham Smythe in the passing game.
