The Chicago Bears had veterans report to training camp on Tuesday, marking the start of the first week of practice. After holding the first two practices closed to the public, the team will conduct its first two open practice sessions on Friday and Saturday, wrapping up Week 1. The Bears are not yet at full health, with one key defensive starter currently nursing an injury.
The Chicago Bears’ elite CB is dealing with an injury

Jaylon Johnson suffered a leg injury while working out during the offseason. As a result, the Bears placed the 2x-Pro Bowler on the non-football injury list to open training camp and can return to practice at any time. Many fans were wondering when Johnson would return to practice, given his importance to the secondary, which ranked in the middle of the pack in passing yards and allowed the fewest passing touchdowns in 2024.
Chicago Bears’ 2x-Pro Bowler expected to be sidelined for 2 weeks

During Tuesday’s press conference, Ryan Poles provided an injury update on Jaylon Johnson, via Kevin Fishbain of The Athletic. The general manager expected the elite cornerback to miss the next two weeks as he continues to recover from his leg injury. Poles does not expect Johnson’s injury to negatively impact his performance on the football field once he returns and believes he will return to his old self.
“We’ve got a lot of faith that he’s going to put in the time to rehab and be his full self when he comes back,” Poles said, via Fishbain. “I’m sure we’ll have updates as we go through training camp, but it’s going to take a little bit of time, but not overly concerned about long term.”
