Despite dominance from one side of the matchup in recent years, the rivalry between the Chicago Bears and the Green Bay Packers still has a flame that burns bright.
New Packers safety Xavier McKinney, who the Packers acquired in free agency before the season, wasted no time getting involved in the back-and-forth. The veteran safety directly confronted star Bears wide receiver D.J. Moore.
Green Bay Packers S Xavier McKinney called out Chicago Bears WR D.J. Moore

McKinney addressed the incident between Moore and his quarterback Caleb Williams. A video of Moore walking off the field in the middle of the play while Williams was still scrambling around fighting for his life went viral.
What the h**l is DJ Moore doing here? He just walks off the field mid play?!? pic.twitter.com/S5NvqM8Dhz

The video called Moore’s loyalty and effort into question. He ended up addressing the video in front of the media, claiming a tweaked ankle was the reason for the walk-off in an article from USA Today.
“I was coming back… because I saw Caleb [Williams] scrambling, and my ankle went in and out,” he said. “I already couldn’t stop, so my momentum took me out of bounds and I just walked off.”
McKinney, who doesn’t have a history with NFC North battles, did not hesitate to throw himself into the fire and give the Bears some bulletin board material. The key defensive piece for Green Bay said Moore’s antics were unlike anything he’s ever seen on a football field, especially because Moore is working with a rookie quarterback.
Packers Star Safety Xavier McKinney on DJ Moore:
“This dude walked out on his QB.. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that. You’re supposed to be the guy and you’re just walking off the field. You’re walking off the field on a rookie quarterback.”
He isn’t buying the injury excuse.

McKinney and the Packers will have their work cut out for them as they are facing an organization in distress. The Bears just fired offensive coordinator Shane Waldron and most fans are upset that head coach Matt Eberflus wasn’t fired along with him.
Regardless of coaching shuffles, the bad blood between the Bears and the Packers could be enough to make the matchup between the two seemingly mismatched teams close.
