Throughout training camp, all eyes have been on the Chicago Bears and rookie QB Caleb Williams. He is arguably one of the most highly anticipated rookie quarterbacks in recent memory. As a result, many people are anxiously waiting to get a glimpse of Williams on a playing field.
Now, we know when we can expect to get our first look at Caleb Williams in action. Read below to find out more.
Caleb Williams Making Preseason Debut vs. Buffalo Bills
According to Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune, Chicago Bears rookie QB Caleb Williams will make his preseason debut on Saturday against the Buffalo Bills. Williams did not play in the Hall of Fame game against the Houston Texans. As a result, this is the first time we will see Williams on a professional playing field.
Caleb Williams was one of six quarterbacks taken in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft. He was the first overall pick taken by the Chicago Bears.
Accomplishments With USC Trojans
So, what are we expecting to get from Caleb Williams after playing football for the USC Trojans? Williams played at USC for the last two seasons. During this time, he had over 8,000 passing yards, 72 touchdown passes, and just 10 interceptions.
Williams originally started his college football career at the University of Oklahoma. However, once head coach Lincoln Riley left Oklahoma to take the same position at USC, Caleb Williams followed Riley to play quarterback under his system. This led to Williams rising to the top of the draft board and ending up being the top overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Chicago Bears Moving Forward
The Chicago Bears are going to be one of the most interesting teams to watch in 2024. They are also in arguably the most competitive division in football this season, that being the NFC North. Chicago has to compete with teams such as the Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers, who both made the playoffs last season with promising quarterbacks.
On top of this, Chicago took advantage of a draft trade they made last season. The Carolina Panthers took their top pick last year. As a result, the Bears ended up with what would have been Carolina’s top pick in this past draft. Now, let’s see if they can take advantage of it.
