One of the main stories of the offseason concerns a topic which will soon, post Super Bowl and free agency, be at the forefront of the NFL’s conscious: the 2024 NFL Draft. Specifically, the first overall pick.
Chicago Bears Hold The Keys To The 2024 NFL Draft
The question remains, will the Chicago Bears take a quarterback and trade incumbent starter, Justin Fields, for a likely 2nd or 3rd round pick. With USC QB, Caleb Williams, the player projected to go first overall, heavily linked to be taken by Chicago, players have been chiming in with their takes on the situation.
DJ Moore, the Bears’ star receiver, has specifically stated his desire to have Fields stay the quarterback. However, not all Chicago players, past and present, have the same kind view towards the former Ohio State standout.
Justin Fields: The Guy, Or Not The Guy?
Brian Urlacher, the Chicago Bears’ Hall of Fame linebacker, feels like his former team would do well to give another QB a go, per Ari Meirov.
#Bears legend Brian Urlacher on Chicago’s QB situation: “If people are still asking if Justin [Fields] is the guy, then he’s probably not the guy. … In my opinion, they probably have to draft a kid.”

Brian Urlacher Not A Believer In Justin Fields
Brian Urlacher had some brutal, but honestly pretty fair words to say about Fields in a recent interview. Whilst Fields has done some good things in Chicago, despite being surrounded by often un-ideal scheme fits and a porous offensive line, the questions about whether he is the quarterback of the future certainly remain.
So Urlacher’s stance of ‘probably not the guy’, could well be correct.
And, with the opportunity to grab a potential generational talent with one of their two first round picks, this could be a tough opportunity to give up.
