The Chicago Bears’ new and improved offensive line unit aims to keep Caleb Williams upright in 2025. The O-line currently has four of the ideal five starting positions filled in, with one vacancy at the most important position. Throughout the offseason, the Bears have held an intense competition between four players for the starting left tackle job.
Here are the four Chicago Bears competitors

The first player competing for the starting job is incumbent Braxton Jones. He has started in each of his first three seasons in the league, with over 40 regular-season starts to his name. Jones missed the entirety of the spring while recovering from a fractured fibula, was limited at the start of training camp, but started every preseason game and eventually took most of the first-team reps.

The second player vying for the starting job is Ozzy Trapilo. The rookie second-rounder split first-team reps at left tackle early in training camp and saw playing time there in the first preseason game. However, Trapilo fell out of the competition and shifted back to right tackle, spending the rest of camp and the final two preseason games with the second-team offense.
The third player in the mix is Theo Benedet. The undrafted 2024 free agent made a late push for the starting gig after impressing during training camp and the preseason. Benedet started the first preseason game at right tackle and split first and second-team reps at left tackle later in August.
The final player in the mix is Kiran Amegadjie. The third-round pick from the 2024 NFL Draft split first-team reps at left tackle early in training camp. However, a leg injury in the first week of August caused Amegadjie to fall out of the running.
The Chicago Bears make a huge decision at left tackle

During Tuesday’s press conference, Ben Johnson announced Braxton Jones as the starting left tackle over Theo Benedet, Ozzy Trapilo, and Kiran Amegadjie, as reported by Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune. The former fifth-round pick from Southern Utah faces a pivotal season as he enters a contract year. If things work out for Jones, he could secure a long-term contract extension with the Bears or sign elsewhere for a decent amount.

we need to him to be at least average, anything below that will cost us crucial games

Got his work cut out for him. Especially if he wants to make a good impression going into free agency.

Rooting for Braxton, he’s been a solid starter.

He gets a bit much hate. He’s not a blue chip, he’s not a pro bowler, he’s not great, he’s not really good but he’s also not a bum
